Police: Arrest made in rape of Towson University student over the weekend

TOWSON, Md. — A 20-year-old man has been charged with rape after a student at Towson University contacted University Police on Sunday to report the incident.

According to Baltimore County Police, the victim, an adult woman told police that after going to the suspect's apartment at around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, he began to make sexual advances toward her and she declined. This is when she told police the sexual assault occurred.

Soon after she contacted Towson University Police to report the incident.

Police were able to located the suspect, Onyekachukwu Chukwuebuk Igwilo and detained him until County Police arrived.

The victim did suffer a visible physical injury during the incident and was transported to a local hospital.

Baltimore County Police said that they are investigating a report of a sexual assault on the Towson University Campus over the weekend.

Igwilo is charged with first degree rape, attempted first degree rape, false imprisonment, and first and second degree assault.

He is held on no bail status pending a bail review hearing scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
