CATONSVILLE, Md. — Baltimore County Police are investigating a house fire in Catonsville Monday evening.
Police tell WMAR-2 News that a body was found in a house fire located on the 400 block of Commonwealth Avenue just around 7 p.m. The man's body was found by Baltimore County firefighters as they were searching the home after knocking down the fire.
The man was identified later as 34-year-old Francisco J. Cabezas, whose last known address was in the Gaithersburg area, fire officials said. An autopsy by the Office of the State Medical Examiner to establish cause of death is pending.
First-arriving crews say they saw smoke coming from the gables, and later found the man in the attic. Investigators say the house seemed to be vacant and the man was living in the attic, using a fire to keep warm.
