A Baltimore County Officer fired his gun at a suspect Monday night after being hit, or dragged, by an SUV in Parkville.

Officials say the officer was working secondary security at Shop Rite when he was alerted of a black SUV driving erratically in the parking lot of the Parkway Crossing Shopping Center.

The officer saw the SUV and approached the suspect on the driver's side of the vehicle. The suspect opened the door and accelerated while either dragging or striking the officer.

An oncoming white car also struck the officer as he was being dragged or struck by the suspects SUV.

In an attempt to flee, the suspect hit a parked car before his vehicle became disabled near the Home Depot at the shopping center.

As he was being struck or dragged, the officer fired his service weapon shooting the suspect.

Officials say the officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Shock Trauma.

The suspect was taken to Sinai Hospital where he later died.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident and are working to confirm the number of times the officer fired his gun at the suspect. The officer involved was not wearing a body camera at the time of the incident.
