Virginia police sought them for a murder that morning, and by Friday afternoon, a pair of wanted suspects spotted in Baltimore County would lead police on a chase that spanned about half an hour before their silver Scion finally came to a stop along Eastern Avenue.
Over the weekend, Baltimore County police identified the two suspects as 33-year-old Christopher Levar Cox and 38-year-old Melissa Joyce Moen, both of Essex.
They are wanted in connection with a fatal shooting and a home invasion stabbing in Hampton, Virginia.
They are being held in Baltimore County while they await extradition.
"They face Baltimore County charges on a completely unrelated case and also unrelated to the chase, but as of right now, we continue to work with the Hampton Police Department in Virginia to see if extradition is going to take place to where they'll face murder charges in Virginia," said Cpl. Shawn Vinson of the Baltimore County Police Department.
As the two suspects tried to elude police here on Friday, they also tried to ditch evidence from their car, but much like their chase, it proved to be fruitless in the end.
"We did recover a weapon,” said Vinson, “We don't want to get into too much information about the weapon, because it may be involved in the murder case in Virginia, but there was a significant amount of evidence that they were throwing out during the pursuit that we were able to recover and preserve as evidence if it's going to be part of this homicide case in Virginia."
According to court records, Christopher Cox already had an outstanding warrant in Baltimore County for burglary and attempting to use a stolen credit card last month.
