WESTMINSTER, Md. — The “malicious damage” of at least 15 cars parked around the town since March 10 is being investigated by the Westminster Police.
Police said the cars have been on various streets and thoroughfares throughout the east side of Westminster. The damage to vehicles included slashed tires, and broken windshield wipers, mirrors and antennas. Other allied law enforcement agencies have reported similar incidents in neighboring jurisdictions, Westminster Police said.
Earlier Monday, a Maryland State Trooper was stabbed when confronting a knife-wielding suspect in Westminster. The suspect was shot and killed in the altercation. The trooper was originally called to the scene about a malicious destruction of property in which two people complained of having their tires slashed. Westminster Police believe the spree of vehicle destruction may be related to that incident.
