Gunman arrested after shooting man and woman in Elkton

ELKTON, Md. — Maryland State Police Troopers located and arrested a suspect they say shot a man and a woman in Elkton on Labor Day.

Police say just after 1 a.m., troopers were notified of two shooting victims who were shot in the area of Cox Lane. They say at the scene, they found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and a 24-year-old woman shot in her upper right leg.

An investigation revealed that allegedly 23-year-old Zachury Hurt shot the victims and fled the scene shortly after.

The victims were taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment for their injuries.

Around 9:45 a.m., an MSP Aviation helicopter along with K9 units searched for the suspect and found Hurt in a wooded area on Keithly Lane and arrested him.
