Trooper hit by drunk driver in Cecil County

Posted

A Maryland state trooper was injured after being hit by a drunk driver—who had been involved in a hit-and-run moments earlier—Wednesday night.

Trooper Charles Tittle, 22, was on a traffic stop on westbound Old Philadelphia Road when he was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder driven by Sean Jester, 30, of North East.

Jester was charged with driving under the influence, negligent driving, reckless driving, failure to drive slow while passing stopped emergency vehicle and with other charges.

State police said Jester veered into Tittle's patrol car from behind around 10:30 p.m. Troopers later discovered Jester was involved in a hit and run crash just before striking Tittle's car.

That crash took place about five miles away at East Cecil Avenue at Mauldin Avenue in North East. State police said Jester struck a parked car, causing it to overturn.

Tittle was transported by ambulance to Union Hospital for treatment, and has been released and is on medical leave.
