A report of a shooting just before 8 a.m. on Friday brought paramedics to a home in the 1600 block of Theodore Road in Rising Sun.
“A subject was located inside the residence who was pronounced deceased,” said Lt. Michael Holmes of the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, “While on the scene, it became evident that the suspect, Kelly Biddle, Jr. was on scene and had fired the fatal shots.”
21-year-old Kelly Biddle, Jr. told investigators that he woke up and heard his father and uncle arguing inside the home.
According to charging documents, he got dressed and placed a revolver in his pocket and then headed to the kitchen where he and his uncle, 45-year-old James Biddle, would face off in what would become a deadly encounter.
“The investigation revealed that the two began arguing, it turned slightly physical and at that point, our suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim multiple times,” said Holmes.
The nephew told police that he pushed his uncle and the victim punched him in the face.
That's when he pulled out the gun and fired what he believed were five rounds at his uncle stating, “I emptied the gun.”
The young suspect also told a firefighter who arrived ahead of police that he had killed a person inside the house, and a deputy later noted that Biddle, Jr. had blood on his hands and clothing as he was placed under arrest at the scene.
Biddle, Jr. now faces a series of charges including first-degree murder, and he's being held at the Cecil County Detention Center with no bond.
