The conviction of Frederick man on child abuse and assault charges was affirmed by the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland, the State's Attorney's Office for Frederick County said Wednesday.
Demetrius Beynum, 40, was convicted of second-degree child abuse and second degree assault following a trial on Sept. 14, 2017.
The charges stemmed from an incident investigated by the Frederick Police Department that occurred on Feb. 18, 2017, in which an 11 year old was struck repeatedly on the head.
Beynum was sentenced to 15 years in the Division of Corrections, with all but 18 months suspended, followed by five years of supervised probation.
