30-year-old woman found dead on side of road near Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a 30-year-old woman found on the side of a road in Wicomico County Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the woman as Ashlie Meadow-Simms of Parsonsburg. A motorists called 911 after seeing the body at about 3 p.m. Sunday, roughly a half-mile from the intersection of Johns Road and Bear Swamp Road, Maryland State Police said. The body was found about 10 to 15 feet from the road, near the wood line. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meadow-Simms was last seen between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday near her residence in the 3000 block of Johnson Road, wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt, state police said. Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine her cause of death.

The scene was investigated by the Criminal Enforcement Division of the Lower Shore, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, and the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office.
