The pitcher's mound on a baseball field at Queen Anne's High School had an unwelcome addition over the weekend.
The Sheriff's Office says someone planted a tree and scratched "Earth Day 2017" in the dirt on the mound.
Investigators say someone noticed the tree on the mound in Centreville Saturday. The tree still had a $139.99 price tag attached to it. It's being investigated as a senior prank.
The Sheriff's Office intially said the damage could amount to more than $2,000.
The field has been repaired.
