An attempted arsonist is being sought in Harford County, the Office of the State Fire Marshall said Friday.
On April 4, the Aberdeen Fire Department responded to the Perrywood Garden Apartments in the 200 block of Mayberry Drive for a reported fuel leak at 10:30 p.m. Responding firefighters found a large puddle of what they suspect was gasoline on a second floor of the apartment building. While searching the area near the pool of fluid, an empty plastic gasoline container was found outside the building. An investigation was requested from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Responding Fire Marshals reviewed security footage and saw a suspect entering the building at about 9:30 p.m., who then placed a blanket on the floor and doused it with a flammable liquid. The suspect then made an unsuccessful attempt to ignite the blanket before eventually picking it up, discarding the gas can, and fleeing the apartment.
The Office of the State Fire Marshall asks anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to call 410-836-4846 or call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-492-7529,
