DARLINGTON, Md. — An alleged drunk driver crashed his car into a Harford County home Wednesday night, Maryland State Police said.
Troopers responded to the 4000 block of Conowingo Road in Conwingo for a reported motor vehicle collision. Police arrived to find a red Subaru station wagon that had crashed into a house.
Troopers said the Subaru was traveling south on US-1 prior to Hughes Road when it left the highway on the rightside of the road and struck the house. The collision caused the house to move several feet off its foundation.
Police arrested the 40-year-old driver, Douglass Greenwalter of Bel Air, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and using a cellular phone/texting while driving.
No injuries were reported, and the home’s occupants were not in the house at the time of the accident. Harford County Building Inspectors responded to the accident site to evaluate the structural safety of the house.
