ELKRIDGE, Md. — Howard County Police say they've charged a Baltimore man and woman with human trafficking at a hotel in Elkridge.
On Monday, during the course of an undercover operation targeting human traffickers, officers learned of possible prostitution activity. With cooperation from the hotel, detectives were able to determine that human trafficking was, in fact, happening at the hotel.
Police believe that 39-year-old Norman Hightower and 28-year-old Niclole Marie Riley posted online ads, arranged prostitution appointments and travel the victim. They also believe that they kept all of her money.
The victim, an 18-year-old female, was referred to the appropriate services for assistance.
Hightower and Riley are charged with prostitution and sex trafficking. They are currently being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
