A woman who hit a pedestrian with her car back in 2016 is now facing five years in prison.

In September of 2016 witnesses saw Brittany McElhiney driving on the wrong side of Green Clover Drive and hit another car. She continued to drive and hit 78-year-old Robert Dukehart.

Dukehart was taken to Shock Trauma where he died from his injuries October 19, 2016.

Police found that McElhiney was under the influence of drugs, primarily Xanax, when the accident happened. Two bags of marijuana were also found in her car.

Police searched her home in October of 2016 and found a substantial amount of drugs, cash, and paraphernalia. McElhiney previously plead guilty to two counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, so the judge sentenced her to a total of 10 years.

She will have five consecutive years in prison followed by a five year supervised probation.
