A man has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for carjacking an Uber driver at a motel parking lot.

According to the Office of the State's Attorney for Howard County, on the morning of January 27, 2018, 29-year-old Preston Harrison carjacked an Uber driver that was waiting for his passenger to return to his car to complete his trip fare.

They say that Harrison was wearing a black hooded jacket when he jumped in the passenger seat of the Uber, threatened the driver and pushed him out of the moving car.

Harrison drove the stolen car southbound on Washington Boulevard while striking multiple cars in Prince George's County.  He later fled on foot and was found passed out on a bench by police.

Detectives were able to identify Harrison's DNA on the steering wheel of the Uber.

Harrison was sentenced to five years in prison and will be placed on three years of supervised probation upon release.
