COLUMBIA, Md. (WMAR) — A 27-year-old man was shot and killed outside of a Columbia banquet hall on Thursday evening, and now police suspect it may be drug related.

Howard County Police say they responded around 5:20 p.m. to the 5400 block of Old Tucker Road for a shooting. Arriving officers found the victim, 27-year-old Ronald Carolina Jr., shot outside of Kahler Hall in the Harper's Choice Village Center. He was transported to Howard County General Hospital where he later died.

Witnesses reportedly told police they saw two male suspects approach Carolina and then heard two or three gunshots before seeing the men flee.

Though the investigation is ongoing, police say preliminary information suggests the incident may have been drug related.
