Holiday weekend starts deadly with 7 shot and 2 dead

BALTIMORE — The holiday weekend gets off to a deadly start in Baltimore City. In the past day, there have been 7 people shot and 2 killed.

The first shooting occurred on Friday around 7:41 p.m., when officers responded to a call for discharging in the 5200 block of Cordelia Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located an unknown man who had been shot in the upper torso.

Medics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Detectives are attempting to identify a suspect and determine a motive.

A few hours later, just after 11 p.m., officers were called to the 700 block of S. Woodington Road for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found four shooting victims.

The first victim is a 36-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to her body. The second victim is a 36-year-old who was shot in her leg. A 25-year-old woman was shot in her leg. The final victim is a 47-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her arm.

The women were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Investigators say the victims were outside when they were shot by an unknown suspect.

Then on Saturday, at 2:16 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of S. Monroe Street for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found two shooting victims.

The first victim is a 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The second victim is a 35-year-old woman. She was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
