BOWIE, Md. — A 14-year-old was struck and killed by a vehicle while jogging Saturday afternoon in Bowie.
Prince George's County Police say it happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Church Road and Fairview Vista Drive.
Kamal Nashid reportedly ran into the crosswalk before southbound traffic on Church Road had stopped. Nashid safely crossed the first lane but was hit by a car traveling in the second lane.
Nashid died a short time later at an area hospital.
The driver remained on scene, but police say they would also like assistance from the driver of a red pickup truck that happened to be in lane one when Nashid crossed.
It's unclear if speeding, drugs, or alcohol contributed to the crash.
