BALTIMORE (WMAR) — Three Maryland pups have been selected to participate in Animal Planet's 2020 Puppy Bowl.
Anise, a 19-week-old Australian Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever mix will represent "Team Fluff".
She will be facing off against "Team Ruff" featuring 12-week-old Gina, a Labrador Retriever/Chow Chow Mix, and Poppy, a 16-week-old Bichon Fris/Papillion mix.
All three dogs were chosen out of Last Chance Animal Rescue in Waldorf.
According to Last Chance, Anise weighed only 1.12lbs when she was rescued and required weeks of medical support and special attention from her Foster Family.
Gina arrived at Last Chance with her five siblings, all of which were at risk of being euthanized due to their young age and overcrowding at their local shelter.
Then there's Poppy, who made the ultimate comeback journey. Last Chance Rescue says she showed up at a local facility with two broken back legs.
"Last Chance Animal Rescue performed surgery and got this little lady back to sporting shape, as you will see for yourself on Puppy Bowl XVI!"
Luckily there's a happy outcome, not only are these three pups in the Puppy Bowl, but each has also found their new "FURever" homes.
This is the second consecutive year Last Chance Animal Rescue has had a participant in the Puppy Bowl.
Last year Banana, the Yorkshire Terrier represented ''Team Ruff''.
Puppy Bowl XVI will air at 3 p.m. e.t. on Super Bowl Sunday.
