6 hurt after walking bridge collapses into creek during wedding celebration

JEFFERSON, Md. (WMAR) — At least six people were injured after a walking bridge collapsed into Catoctin Creek during a wedding celebration in Frederick County.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Poffenberger Road in Jefferson.

All of the victim's were rescued by other wedding attendees before fire and rescue crews showed up.

According to Frederick County Fire and Rescue officials, one victim was flown to a hospital by helicopter, while three others were taken by ambulance.

Two more victim's were treated by medics on scene.

It's unclear what caused the bridge to collapse.
