Wright knew she was named Teacher of the Year, but what she didn’t know was what her students were about to give her.

A 2020 Ford Escape. She was honestly surprised.

"I saw all the people around the corner, I couldn’t believe it," Wright said.

Her students couldn’t believe the energy and excitement she brought everyday to the classroom. Wright is a performance art teacher. She has spent 14 of her 25 years teaching at Kent Island.

"Everyday she walks into the classroom with an amazing smile, the best energy , she’s pumped up everyday."

Wright has been nominated for the award several times before in Queen Anne’s, this is the first time she won.
