BALTIMORE — In the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a new breast cancer-fighting facility is opening its doors.

Ascension Saint Agnes held a ribbon cutting for their new breast cancer care center.

The new center centralizes all the medical tech and know-how needed to fight the cancer, into one building.

The goal is to increase communication between departments to get better and more informed options to patients.

The facility's director said the consolidation will step their care up several notches.

“Women with breast cancer can get the first-class treatment for breast cancer within close proximity to home, that we can give them as good breast care for women with breast cancer as any place in the country.”

Breast cancer is the second-most diagnosed cancer in women, second only to skin cancer.

Saint Agnes administrators say they've seen patients with breast cancer as young as their 20s and as old as 101.
