Two injured in shooting involving off-duty police officer in Parkville

UPDATE: A grand jury declined to file criminal charges against Maryland National Capital Park Police officer, Adnan Hussain. This comes after Hussain reportedly shot two suspects after being robbed of $440 he had to purchase a Playstation 5 from someone he met online.

The two suspects were identified as 18-year-old Daevon Padgett and 19-year-old Jada Hampton. Hampton faces conspiracy to commit armed robbery while Padgett has been charged with armed robbery as well as assault.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Two people were shot Thursday evening in Parkville, Baltimore County Police said.

The shooting happened around 6:20 p.m. in the 1100 block of Deanwood Road.

The two shot were taken to the hospital. Their condition is still unknown at this time.

While investigating, officers identified a person involved in the shooting as an off-duty police officer with the Maryland National Capital Park Police in Montgomery County. He has been identified as Adnan Hussain, a seven-year veteran of the department. He was not shot, according to police.

Maryland National Capital Park Police originally said this in a statement:

The officer was treated and released for injuries sustained and is on routine administrative leave. The investigation is ongoing and will be handled by the Baltimore County Police Department. A formal press conference will be scheduled in the near future with additional details.

All people believed to be involved in the shooting are believed to have been identified and there is no threat to the community.
