Beach Patrol recovers body of Annapolis teen swept away by rip current in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. — A 17-year-old Annapolis boy who was swept away by a rip current in Ocean City on Wednesday has been found dead.

The teen had been swimming with three other people near 112th Street.

Lifeguards noticed the group was starting to struggle in the water and began rescue efforts.

Three of them made it out of the water safely, but the victim did not.

About 50 Surf Rescue Technicians searched unsuccessfully for two hours.

The next day, around 12:45 Ocean City Beach Patrol located the teen's body around 13th street.

An autopsy will determine the official cause of death. The victim's name is being withheld.
