SEVERNA PARK, Md. — Consider yourself in the comfort zone. Where pepperonis are curled up on a Pizza Johns 12 inch. Where crab cakes are crunchy at Koco’s, and where you can get a handmade donut on Ritchie Highway.

To you, it may be just a Donut Shack, but to all of us, it's our Donut Shack and we need to save it in Severna Park.

Word spread faster than sprinkles on a donut, that the famous Donut Shack was on shaky ground. Alida Matthews, from Riodan’s and Davis Pub fame, was brought into run the Shack by Bill Hilliard.

Bill has known Ali since they worked together off Dock Street in Annapolis.

Here’s what Ali recently sent out over social media, “I like to live in a bubble of denial where every day is sunny and 75 and everyone eats donuts without gaining weight," but the reality is, during this pandemic, donuts did not come to mind. Maybe now it will.

Ever since Ali spread the word, the community has responded in an incredible way. #SaveTheShack, kept the place open on Ritchie Highway. The place that Mr. Bill started when we were kids.

Donuts anyone? Absolutely, said everyone.
