WINDSOR MILL, Md. — A three alarm fire broke out Tuesday at an apartment complex in Windsor Mill that has forced 27 families from their homes.
It took Baltimore County Fire crews about two hours to knock down the blaze, in the unit block of Springridge Court.
Officials say flames spread through a shared attic and into five attached apartment buildings, causing the families to be displaced.
There were no reported injuries. Firefighters verified that all occupants got out of the building and are safe.
The roof and upper stories burned completely. All 30 units in the complex are uninhabitable as a result of the damage.
45 pieces of equipment and about 150 personnel responded. The bulk of the fire was knocked at 1:34 p.m.
On Wednesday, Baltimore County Police fire investigators ruled the fire accidental due to a malfunction in the chimney exhaust system.
