BALTIMORE — Almost every week there's been a tragedy that hits home to many of us.

Religious leaders had enough, and are calling on the community to participate in 40 days of prayer and good service.

Everyday at noon until July 14, religious leaders ask the community to stop what they're doing and pray powerfully to end the violence in our nation.

They say you can pray anywhere you want, it doesn't have to be a church.

This is organized by Bishop Angel Nuñez, of the Bilingual Christian Church in Southeast Baltimore.

He and his colleagues from ACT Now Baltimore, and the Multicultural Prayer Movement, invited more than 500 churches across the country to participate in 40 days of prayer.

Religious leaders also ask that after prayer you spread kindness, and love to reach others and promote good in the world.

"Everybody hear my voice. Let's join together, call out to God, I know some people say that prayer is not enough. That's because they don't know how to pray like we pray when we pray, we know that God comes through," said Bishop Nuñez.

Bishop Nuñez will announce more events to end violence and he hopes the community will participate.
