BALTIMORE — January 2021 has come and gone.
Already there has been 27 murders in Baltimore, one more than at the same time last year.
Victims include 17-year-old Alissa Taylor of Aberdeen, who was found shot and killed inside an East Baltimore home, and Breonna Rogers, 30, who was fatally wounded inside Druid Hill Park.
While police have solved some cases, others remain open, including the murder of Safe Streets employee Dante Barksdale.
Then there is the slaying of an on-duty MTA mobility van driver. One person has been charged, but another suspect is still on the loose.
During the month, there were also 49 non-fatal shootings, an increase of 9 at this time in 2020.
Last September, WMAR-2 News began tracking daily murders and shootings in the city.
2/28 - 1:51 p.m., A man was shot in the leg in the 200 block of North Culver Street. He was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. A second victim also suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound walked into an area hospital seeking treatment.
2/28 - 4:37 a.m., Three men were shot inside Island Pride Carry-Out in Baltimore during an afterparty.
2/27 - 9:50 p.m., A 42 year-old man was shot in the 1600 block of Normal Avenue. On April 19, police arrested and charged 27 year-old Bianca Nelson with attempted first degree murder.
2/27 - 3:30 pm: Two groups of people got into an argument and started shooting at each in the 2500 block of N. Fulton Street, resulting in a 10-year-old girl and two men being shot. Police have since arrested Tirik Trotman, 27.
2/27 - 1:55 a.m., Officers investigated a shooting victim that had been dropped of at a local hospital in need of treatment. Investigators learned that a 32 year-old man was shot in the 1800 block of Maryland Avenue.
2/25 - 11:04 a.m., Patrol officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the 1500 block of Mullikin Court. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
2/25 - 12:05 a.m., police were called to Johns Hopkins Hospital at Bayview where a man who had been shot was dropped off.
The 29 year-old man was pronounced dead just before officers arrived.
2/24 - 2:10 p.m., An officer was driving in the 5000 block of Frederick Avenue when they were stopped by a 46-year-old man, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medics responded to the location and took the victim to a hospital for treatment.
2/24 - 12:17 a.m., Police were called to an area hospital where a shooting victim was seeking treatment. A 42-year-old man had been shot in the right ankle. The victim was uncooperative and refused to give an information as to where or how he was shot.
2/23 - 9:23 p.m., On February 23, 2021, at approximately 9:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 500 block of Dolphin Street to investigate a reported disturbance. Officers arrived at the location and observed an unresponsive 57 year-old female suffering from stab wounds. Medical personnel were summoned and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Officers placed an adult male at the scene into custody as a person of interest.
2/23 - 1:55 p.m., A 19-year-old male was found in the 200 block of South Pulaski Street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
2/23 - 10:52 a.m., Officers were called to an area hospital for a report of a walk-in shooting victim. Once they arrived, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim is currently in stable condition. Investigators believe the shooting possibly occurred in the 600 block of North Clinton Street.
2/22- 4:35 p.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 500 block of South Caroline Street for a report a shoot.
Once there, officers located an 28-year - old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the right thigh. Medics transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe the victim was targeted.
2/21 - 12:53 p.m, A 33-year-old man was shot in the 2800 block of Harlem Avenue. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he later died. The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Melvin Hairston, of the 2800 block of Harlem Avenue.
2/18 -12:17 p.m., Justin Bucalo, 40, was fatally shot in the 5100 block of Queensberry Avenue. Police have since arrested and charged Jaqwaun Owens, 25.
2/18 -10:04 a.m., Officers found a 25-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her torso in the 2000 block of Wheeler Avenue. The victim was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. Evidence found at the scene determined that the shooting happened inside of a home in the block.
2/18 - 12:48 am: A 49-year-old woman was shot during a dispute with a family member, in the 2500 block of Boarman Avenue. Police later arrested 23 year-old Carnell Spencer.
2/17 - 8:27 p.m., Baltimore City Police exchanged gunfire with a suspect in the 300 block of S. Gilmore Street. No one was injured in the discharge, including officers officers and the suspect remains at large.
2/17 - 8:09 p.m., On February 17, 2021 at approximately 8:09 p.m., officers responded to the 2300 block of Eutaw Street for a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a 37 year-old male who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. The victim was transported to an area hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
2/17 - 5:53 p.m., On February 17, 2021 at approximately 5:53 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Grantley Street for a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found evidence of discharging, but found no shooting victim. Officers were then told to check area hospitals for a victim who may have walked in seeking treatment.
Upon doing so, an officer located a 20 year-old male victim at an area hospital. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest and was in serious but stable condition. Southwest District shooting detectives are investigating this incident.
2/17 - 2:57 p.m., Two men were shot in the 5200 block of Fairlawn Avenue. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment and are expected to survive their injuries. The victims stated they were standing outside of the auto shops when they heard gunshots and were struck.
2/15 - 9:23 P.M., Officers responded to a local hospital for a walk-in shooting and found a man with gunshot wounds. His condition is currently unknown at this time.
2/15 - 2:42 p.m., A 26-year-old man was shot in the unit block of South Smallwood Street. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
2/13 - just after 11 a.m., A man was shot in the back of the 1800 block of Ramsey Street. He was taken to Shock Trauma where he later died. Police are investigating. Victim has been identified as 56-year-old Seymour Hall, Jr., of the Catonsville, Maryland
2/12 - 12:59 am: A shot spotter alert came out for the 1900 block of Edmondson Avenue. Responding officers found 52 year-old Guy Thomas dead on scene from apparent gunshot wounds. No potential suspects or motive released.
2/12 - 12:50 am: Officers were called to the1400 block of Filbert Street for an unresponsive person. Upon arrival they found a man suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. No potential suspects or motive released. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Jayvon Montgomery, of the 2100 block of Parksly Avenue.
2/12 - 12:01 am: A 25-year-old man was found shot in the 100 block of Baltic Avenue. He later died at the hospital. No potential suspects or motive released. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Kamari Williams, of the 4900 block of Palmer Avenue.
2/10 - 2:59 p.m., Three people were shot in the 100 block of N. Highland Avenue. A 23 year-old woman in the left arm, a 22 year-old man in the leg, and a 21 year-old man to the right foot. Police say their injuries are non-life threatening.
2/10 - 10:20 a.m., Marcus Bentley, 40, was shot in the 3400 block of East Lombard Street. He later died at the hospital.
2/9 - 3:15 p.m., A man was shot in the lower torso in the 800 block of Kenwood Avenue. He's listed is in serious but stable condition. He told police he was walking in the block when he was shot.
2/8 - 10:17 p.m., A man was shot in the head inside a home in the 900 block of E. Jeffrey Street. His condition is currently unknown. Suspects were described as three unknown males wearing dark clothing and hoodies.
2/8 - 8:41 p.m. A man and woman were shot in the 5500 block of Summerfield Avenue.
2/8 - 4:36 a.m., A man was found shot in the area of W. 33rd Street and Remington Avenue. His injuries are believed to be non- life threatening.
2/8 - 4:04 a.m., A man was shot in the 300 block of Lyndhurst Avenue.He later died at an area hospital.
2/5 - 11:17 am: A 23 year-old male suffered a graze gunshot wound in the 500 block of Dolphin Street.
2/5 - 7:06 a.m., A shot spotter alert came out for the 2000 block of Wheeler Avenue. Officers spotted a vehicle speeding down Pennsylvania Avenue, and found that the 38-year-old male driver had been shot and was headed to the hospital. A gun was recovered and suspect arrested.
2/4 - The Medical Examiner ruled a man's death on December 2, 2020 was caused by an assault on November 25 in the 200 block of W. Lexington Street.
2/3 - 3:30 p.m., Southwest District officers were called to a hospital for a man suffering from a gunshot wound. It's believed the shooting happened in the 500 block of Edgewood Street.
2/3 - 3:14 p.m., A man was shot in the 1800 block of North Chapel Street.
2/3 - 9:59 a.m., A 19-year-old female was shot in the foot in the area of Cole Street and S. Stricker Street. She claims that she was walking to the store when she heard gunshots and realized she was shot.
2/2 - 4:47 p.m. Terrell Billie, 25, was killed in the 5200 block of Park Heights Avenue. Police later arrested and charged Ricky Robinson, 30.
2/1- 10:16 pm: A 21-year-old man was shot in the 4300 block of Loch Raven Boulevard.
2/1- 9:41 pm: A man was shot and killed in the 3600 block of Shelby Avenue.
2/1 - 10:51 am: A shot-spotter alert in the1100 block of W. Baltimore Street led officers to a 27-year-old man who was shot in the arms. No information on a suspect or motive at this time.
