ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY — The best way to stop the spread of the virus remains wearing a mask and restricting your travel.
On Wednesday, the State Department of Health focused that message on Anne Arundel County.
They grouped up with local non-profits to hand out 150 PPE bags containing masks, hand sanitizer, and first-aid kits. While those groups handed out toys and food to those in need.
This all happened in Meade Village in Severn. One group says even with the pandemic raging, events like these help put children at ease.
"It gives kids an opportunity to simply experience Christmas. For those families that simply can't afford to do Christmas, this gives an opportunity for those families to actually have a Christmas."
This is the first year the Meade Village giveaway has happened.
Organizers say they helped about 225 families with their Christmas needs.
