(WMAR) — The wrestling community is rallying around Joppatowne's own, the "Bruiser."
The pro-wrestler was diagnosed with leukemia in March and is now preparing for the fight of his life.
R.J. Meyer has been wrestling with Maryland Championship Wrestling or MCW for 20 years.
After years of being in tip, top shape he was feeling under the weather for a few weeks in March. He went to Patient first they immediately sent him to the hospital because his blood work came back at dangerously low levels .
The diagnosis came shortly afterwards.
"He left and my parents and I had a five minute cry and that ended and I looked at my mom and said we're done crying, now it's time to fight. I'm a fighter. I've got a strong faith," said Meyer.
To help R.J. win the fight of his life, Jimmy's Seafood is hosting a crab feast for him on Sunday at five to help cover his mounting medical bills.
They're calling it "Bruiserstrong."
Tickets are still available and on sale for $65.
We'll keep you updated on the Bruiser's prognosis.
