A woman was killed while trying to help another motorist who had wrecked on Sunday, according to Maryland State Police.

The crash happened Sunday around 4 a.m. on U.S. Route 50 around Route 410 in Prince George's County. Investigators believe the woman, later identified as 23-year-old Johanna Nicole Caballero, was hit moments after exiting her car to assist another driver who had struck a barrier.

Troopers say the driver of a silver Pontiac Grand Am lost control of their car and hit a jersey wall. Caballero then parked, exited her car, and was hit by a man driving an Infiniti G37. She was declared dead at the scene by Prince George's County Fire and EMS.

Police say the 37-year-old driver of the Infiniti remained at the scene before troopers arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are still pending following the completion of this case and he will not be identified until he is charged.
