FREDERICK, Md. (WMAR) — An inmate was found dead in his cell Monday morning at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
Officials with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office say 38-year-old John Marshall Hibbert was found by staff around 5:20 a.m. during breakfast wake-up.
Based on evidence found in the cell, investigators think Hibbert hung himself using a strip of a tee shirt.
According to the Sheriff's Office, electronic security logs show that required overnight checks were made, and nothing used in the apparent suicide was seen at the time.
Hibbert was arrested in July and awaiting trial on multiple counts of child pornography and child sex abuse related crimes.
The Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine his official cause of death.
