ABERDEEN, Md. (WMAR) — A Harford County Judge on Monday ruled in favor of allowing the grown sons of Jacquelyn Smith, to take control of her estate.

Jacquelyn's husband Keith Smith, who lived in Aberdeen, previously filed paper work and took over the estate after she was stabbed to death on December 1.

Keith and his daughter Valeria were arrested in March near the Mexico border and have since been charged with Jacquelyn's murder, after originally telling police that she was killed while helping out a panhandler.

Following his arrest, Jacquelyn's sons had petitioned the court to remove Keith from her estate.

According to Ed Price, a partner at the law firm of Price & Kier, who represent Jacquelyn's sons, Keith was present at the hearing, and didn't put up an argument over the judge's decision.

The judge named Smith's eldest son, Kendall Hood, the estate's representative. Hood and his attorneys will now have the authority to seek any documentation and records to investigate if Keith and Valeria profited from his mother's murder.
