SALISBURY, Md. (WMAR) — A 40-year-old man was arrested after trying to set a home on fire in Salisbury.
Melvin Godinez is charged with attempted first and second degree arson.
It happened Tuesday around 10:20 at night in the 200 block of Washington Street.
Salisbury Police and Fire were called to the house for an odor coming from the location.
Investigators with the State Fire Marshal found that an ignitable liquid had been poured on and around the porch of the home.
Witnesses reported seeing Godinez pour the liquid on the porch and try setting it on fire with a lighter.
Officials say Godinez and someone living at the home had an ongoing civil dispute.
There was no injuries or damage to the home.
If convicted of all charges, Godinez faces 40 years imprisonment and / or $60,000.00 in fines.
