CENTREVILLE, Md. — A man was run over and killed after getting into a crash minutes before, and trying to cross the road to exchange information.
It happened Wednesday around 7:10 pm on the westbound side of U.S. Route 50 near Arrington Road in Queen Anne's County.
According to Maryland State Police, 49-year-old Jeremy Keith Weldon was driving a Chrysler 200 in the left lane, when he somehow side-swiped a Ford Fiesta traveling in the right lane.
Following the collision, Weldon pulled off to the left shoulder while the Ford pulled to the right.
Weldon first got out to look at the damage before backing up to where the Ford was stopped.
As Weldon tried crossing Route 50 to meet with the Ford driver, he was struck by an oncoming Infiniti Q70.
Weldon died on scene. No one else was injured.
Police say the area wasn't lit and Weldon happened to be wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.
The cause of both crashes remain under investigation.
