SEVERN — A man is dead after a shooting in Anne Arundel County.
Police were called to Pioneer Drive and Arwell Court in Severn around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officers found 20-year-old Naim Rashid Addison in the driver's seat of a Honda Civic suffering from a gunshot wound.
He later died at the hospital.
Investigators believe Addison was targeted, but didn't say why.
On March 14, 2023, Anne Arundel County Police announced 18-year-old Vanae Lewis was arrested for the murder of Naim Addison.
Lewis is being charged with First and Second degree murder, First and Second degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony, possession of a firearm of a minor, handgun on a person, and reckless endangerment.
"He was in the driver's seat, there was another person in the passenger side of the car," said Marc Lamansky, with the Anne Arundel County Police Department. "Witness stated that a person came up to the window and fired a round through a open widow of the window striking the victim."
There have been nine homicides in Anne Arundel County in 2022. There were 13 homicides last year at this time, 16 total for 2021.
"Makes me feel like it's not safe here anymore," said a woman who didn't want to be identified. It makes me feel like I'm not safe in the community where I grew up in. I feel like as though I have to keep watching my back when I walk down the street. I shouldn't have to feel that way."
