Mayor says Baltimore water billing investigation found no issues with meter placement

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Mayor Jack Young says an investigation into the city's water billing found no issues with how meters are positioned on residential properties.

Hired independent contractors inspected addresses and accounts that couldn't be matched during an initial review.

According to the city, about 90 percent of the addresses had an existing matching account, but under a different parcel associated with an address that had been deleted and replaced.

Out of 200,000 water accounts, the city says only five will be referred to the Department of Public Works for further investigation.
