Police are looking for a Silver Nissan after a man was hit and killed Saturday morning

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, md. — Maryland state troopers are investigating after what appears to be a fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian on I-495 in Prince George's County.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m., Saturday morning, Maryland State Police say the received a report of what appeared to be a body lying in the gore area between the inner loop of I-495 and the ramp for northbound I-95.

The victim, an African-American man, was pronounced dead at the scene. A positive identification has not been made at this time.

The preliminary investigation indicates the man was walking and struck by an unknown vehicle, between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Officials believe the vehicle that struck and killed the man is a Silver 2018 or 2019 Nissan Altima. The Nissan may be damaged on the passenger side. Troopers describe the damage to the vehicle as potentially extensive and say it could involve the bumper, hood, headlight, fender and mirror along the passenger side of the car.

The investigation is ongoing.
