BALTIMORE — In a series of tweets Sunday morning, President Donald Trump criticized Baltimore and endorsed Kimberly Klacik in her run for the 7th District Congressional seat in November.

President Trump said in his tweets that Democrats have been running the city for 100 years and that Klacik will "fix it fast."

Klacik is running against Rep. Kweisi Mfume. Mfume and Klacik are vying to fill the seat held by the late US Congressman Elijah Cummings.

Rep. Mfume won the special election for the seat in April.

In response to the President's endorsement, a spokesman for Mfume released the following statement.

"Donald Trump and my opponent are two of a kind. They love each other, but more importantly they deserve each other. Mr.Trump will soon find out that he can't tell the people of Baltimore City, Baltimore County or Howard County how to vote, or who to vote for. Instead of Baltimore bashing how about showing a little leadership in the middle of a pandemic Mr. President... Now tweet that!"
