There was a race relations panel discussion tonight, for people who live in Baltimore County.

Two of the speakers were the President of the Baltimore County branch of the NAACP and Baltimore County Police Chief Melissa Hyatt.

When asked about structural changes to the department, Hyatt said the changes won't happen immediately.

"We absolutely recognize that the work that we need to do to continue to build relationships with our community there's an internal component and an external facing component and it takes time to build those pieces."

Tonight's discussion is part of a larger series about race and social justice, hosted by the Baltimore County Public Library.
