TIMONIUM, Md. — After 50 years, the Robert Paul Academy of Cosmetology in Timonium is closing.
Their last day will be March 15.
In a letter to students the school said COVID-19 has made it impossible to move forward.
Some of the reasons given include reduced enrollment, a decline in clinical support, and rising operational costs associated with current state and federal guidelines.
The school also wrote that fear of contracting the disease has led to a substantial number of students reconsidering program completion.
Students scheduled to graduate prior to the closing date can still complete their certification.
Others with 1200 hours or more will be offered alternative plans to complete theirs.
The school promised it would assist impacted students in getting them transferred to other cosmetology schools in the area.
Students will receive help to ensure their existent financial aid is accepted at a new school, along with transcripts and other documentation.
