ODENTON, Md. — Police say they have a suspect in custody following a Friday afternoon shooting in Odenton.
Anne Arundel County officers initially flooded a residential neighborhood in the 700 block of Hammond Branch Road.
They found a 23-year-old woman who'd been hit by a stray bullet while sitting inside her apartment. Her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
Witnesses told police two people had been arguing outside leading to shots being fired. Afterwards, the alleged gunman fled the scene in an Audi.
Police later spotted and pulled the car over. Damien Justin Lewis, 37, was taken into custody.
Inside the car, officers found a loaded assault rifle and handgun.
Multiple rifle shell casings were collected back at the scene. A parked car and part of the building was also damaged by gunfire.
Lewis now faces charges including first and second degree assault and several other firearms offenses.
A bail hearing has been set for 2pm Monday followed by a November trial.
