Next October, you won't be able to fly without a Real ID.
It seems like you have time to get it, but it's better not to wait.
The TSA hopes you'll make the change sooner rather than later. Come October 1, 2020, anyone over 18 years old will need a Real ID compliant driver's license or passport to get through checkpoints.
"If you do not have a Real ID compliant license, that TSA officer is going to tell you 'unfortunately you don't have an acceptable I.D. I cannot let you pass this area to catch your flight.' And you know what, at that point, you're between a rock and a hard place because that could be thousands of dollars out the window," said Lisa Farbstein.
