BALTIMORE — Two men have been charged with attempted murder in connection to the shooting of a security guard watching over an election ballot box in October.
On October 15, police officers were called to the 2200 block of Pinewood Avenue to investigate a reported shooting.
When officers arrived at the location, they found a 24 year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was an unarmed security guard tasked with guarding the upcoming election’s ballot box.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. Northeast District detectives responded and assumed control over the investigation.
As a result of that investigation, investigators obtained arrest warrants for 24 year-old Christopher Winchester and 27 year-old Jamal Simmons.
On October 26, detectives arrested both men at separate locations within Baltimore City.
Winchester and Simmons were both taken to the Baltimore City Central Booking Intake Facility and formally charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Firearm use/ Felony violent crime, as well as other related weapons and assault charges.
