Las Vegas authorities shut down social media rumors of more than one shooter

As we learn more and more about what actually took place Sunday night, videos and other stories continue to go viral on social media convincing people there was more than one active shooter on the Las Vegas Strip.

While thousands of people were living a real-life nightmare on the ground, chaos erupted over the police radios.

"We have two scenes!" yelled an officer. "We have an active shooter. We have an active shooter inside the fairgrounds!"

During the minutes and hours following the mass shooting, facts were not clear to anyone, even authorities.

Over the police radios, questions about shooters at multiple hotels arose. At one point, there were even questions about a car bomb at the Luxor.

As time passed and the facts became more clear, investigators were comfortable confirming this deadly massacre was because of one person, Stephen Paddock.

Despite the police confirmation, rumors continue to swirl across social media. Many people are getting into some serious arguments and truly believe Paddock did not act alone.

One video shows people running through the Aria and the caption on the video says, "There are shooters w/ machine guns @ Aria".

Another Facebook post being spread widely says there was another shooter at the Paris and that it was even confirmed with Paris security guards, but it never was.

More videos are being shared suggesting there was another shooter on lower levels of Mandalay Bay.

Authorities continue to debunk these rumors.

"We are aware of the rumors outside of the media and also on social media," said Undersheriff Kevin McMahill, "that there was more than one assailant. We have no information or evidence to support that theory or that rumor. We believe there was only one shooter and that was Stephen Paddock."

If these facts change, we will update you as soon as we learn about it.
