Nacho fries, funnel cake fries and doughnut fries have a little more competition when it comes to the war of the taste buds.

McDonald's announced Monday that it was jumping into the breakfast fry game with "donut sticks."

They will be available in two sizes -- a half-dozen and full dozen -- at restaurants nationwide beginning Wednesday, Feb. 20, according to a news release. The sticks will be made each morning and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.

"Donut Sticks are the perfect complement to our existing breakfast lineup, and pair deliciously with our fresh brewed premium roast McCafé coffee,” said Linda VanGosen, McDonald’s vice president of menu innovation, in a prepared statement.

Prices will vary by restaurant, a McDonald's spokesperson said, but the average price will be between $1.69 and $3.29 for a half-dozen and full dozen, respectively.

McDonald's tested the donut sticks at restaurants in Illinois in early 2018 and again in October, VanGosen said.

"We looked at several donut shapes, tested a variety of doughs and even worked to get the amount of cinnamon sugar just right for the recipe," her statement read.
