MEXICO CITY — A strong earthquake in southern Mexico caused buildings to sway in the country's capital, but there are no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake registered as a magnitude 5.7, and originated in the state of Oaxaca, 215 miles south of Mexico City.
