Former Governor Martin O'Malley endorsed Rushern Baker in the Montgomery County Executive's quest to capture the Democratic nomination for the 2018 Maryland Governor's race, Thursday afternoon.
During a ceremony at the Lawyer's Mall in Annapolis, O'Malley put his thumb on the scale as Baker battles eight other candidates for his party's ticket.
Also at the event, Baker presented his 10-point plan to make Maryland schools the best in the nation again. According to his campaign, the plan will address:
1 - early start initiatives
2 - strengthening low-performing schools
3 - 21st century career programs
4 - technical education
5 - enhanced support for educations
6 - mental and behavioral health
7 - school infrastructure
8 - funding and performance accountability
9 - curricular innovation
10 - college access and affordability
Baker took on his opponents Wednesday in WMAR's studios during a gubernatorial debate. That forum will be aired on Wednesday, June 13 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. here on WMAR 2.
