RIVERDALE, Md. (WMAR) — A homeowner fatally shot an 18-year-old who broke into his Riverdale residence on Wednesday.
Prince George's County Police say the homeowner called 911 at around 5:30 p.m. to report that he had shot a man who kicked down the front door of his home.
By the time police arrived, the suspect had run away. But a short time later, they were dispatched to Doctors Hospital in Lanham where a man had walked in with a gunshot wound.
Officers identified the man as Victory Mbeng, and determined that he was the burglar. Mbeng later died at the hospital.
The break-in was captured on home surveillance, and detectives believe it was targeted.
Police say the home owner isn't facing any charges at this time.
